ISK - How it works & estimate potential growth

Learn how the Swedish investment savings account is taxed and compare a simplified ISK projection with a standard securities account.

An ISK is an account for funds and shares where you pay an annual standardised tax instead of tax on every realised gain. From 2026, the first SEK 300,000 of your combined ISK and endowment-insurance savings is tax-free.

How ISK works

Tax is based on a standardised return on the capital base, not your actual gain. The calculator uses the 2026 standard income rate of 3.55%.
The first SEK 300,000 of combined ISK and endowment-insurance savings is tax-free in 2026. The allowance applies per person, not per account.
The capital base is calculated from quarterly values and deposits. This calculator uses a simplified annual estimate.
Losses and fees are not deductible inside an ISK. Foreign withholding tax can also alter the outcome.
